Republishing
What is ‘republishing’ and why would I use it?
The easiest way to think of republishing is as if Buto is making a ‘copy’ of your video file for you to use again. A republished video is a virtual copy of the original.
This new copy shares the video file itself with the original (saving you uploading it again) but everything else about this copy can be customised – the player, settings, title, etc.
What’s more – the republished copy has its statistics recorded separately.
How do I republish a video?
View the video you’d like to republish and click the ‘Republish this’ button in the top-right. You’ll be asked to enter a name for this new copy, and once saved you’ll be returned to the new version if this video.
Directly under the row of tabbed buttons at the top of the control panel is a ‘breadcrumb trail’ allowing you to navigate back up to the original video.
This new republished version of the video can now be customised and embedded separately to its original.
Will I have to enter everything again?
Not if you don’t need to. The new republished video inherits the Closed Captions, In-Player Adverts, etc – of its original version so they are there for you to use if you need to – or add an additional one (for example, another language of captioning).
