The Buto Player

Everyone has different internet connection speeds, how do decide your quality level?

By encoding your video to lots of different data rates, our player automatically determines the best quality possible for your viewers, every time.

What size is the video player?

The Buto video player is designed to scale automatically to fit any embed size that works for your website, down to a minimum of 400 pixels wide.

Because of the nature of video, it has to be encoded at a fixed size and then scaled in the player.

Your video is encoded at a range of sizes and quality rates, and the most appropriate one is displayed to each viewer.

My video content isn’t 16:9 – will this work?

Yes – our player dynamically resizes to any dimensions from 400px width upwards. There are some preset sizes to help you which you can choose when you upload (or re-publish) a video.

What is the video player?

The player is a Flash (.swf) object, much like YouTube or the BBC’s iPlayer. Flash is a free plug-in which is installed on 99.6% of computers, so the vast majority of users can see your content. [Source]

Which websites can I use the Buto player on?

Any website that supports HTML and will allow you to insert an “object”, “embed” or “iframe” tag will support the Buto player.
