How can I find my content easily?
There is a search field in the top right of every page, begin typing and Buto returns videos and comments which match your query.
You can click an item from the “as-you-type” preview that appears, or click “Search” for a more detailed results page.
Can I add folders?
Yes, click “Videos” and use the “New folder” button on the left hand side.
Who can see my video content within the system?
Both you, and any other users in your organisation can see your content. You can add new users under the People tab.
How do I work with comments?
Click the Comments tab and you’ll see a list of comments waiting to be moderated. Use the “Approve, Deny or Delete” controls to moderate the comments. You can also click the text of comments to edit them in-place.
Can I build playlists of multiple video items?
Yes, by either adding the videos to a batch – or selecting them on the screen. Use “Add selected videos to playlist” on the “Available actions” menu in the top right once you’ve selected some.
I don’t like any of the 3 poster frames you’ve picked…
No problem, you can pick your own. View a video’s details and click ‘Generate poster frame’ on the right-hand side. Enter the time in minutes and seconds that you’d like to use – the first frame at that time is picked as the new poster frame and updated on your video within a few minutes.
I requested a new poster frame, but it’s still showing me the old one.
We aim to generate and return your custom poster frames within about 10 minutes, but it can sometimes take a little longer at peak times.
What is most likely is that the old frame is ‘cached‘ at either your computer or along the network. Don’t worry, it will update in time and new users will be seeing your new poster frame.
What is an Uploader user?
An “Uploader” user can sign into Buto and add new video content to your account. They can’t see your existing content, nor modify anything.
A video added by an Uploader user is set to “Disabled” by default, and will only be available once you’ve made it live manually.
How do I publish to YouTube?
First you need to link your Buto and YouTube accounts together. You can only link to one YouTube account at a time, so make sure you pick the right one, as that’s where your videos will be published to. You can always un-link at a later date if you wish to change.
Click ‘Settings’ in the top right of your control panel, and then choose ‘Link YouTube Account’.
Once this process is complete, you’ll be able to use the ‘Publish to YouTube’ control on the left hand side of video details pages.
I published a clip to YouTube, but it’s not appeared, why?
YouTube have some pretty advanced anti-piracy measures, and video clips with commercial soundtracks tend to get caught in this protection. So, even if your content is genuinely your copyright, and features properly-licensed music (for example), YouTube will err on the side of caution and remove your video. Annoying, but we can’t get around this protection I’m afraid.
