How do I add closed captioning or subtitles?
View a video’s details and click “Closed captions” on the left hand side. From here you can create and edit captions files. Click ‘Add closed captions’ to create a new captions file.
Once you’ve used our editor to add captions at the start and end timecodes you require, click Save. You’ll be returned to a page where you can select which captions file to apply.
More advanced needs are met in conjunction with “Re publishing” where you could make multiple versions for different languages – each with their own subtitles.
My in-player ads used to appear, but now they don’t.
To reduce the visual disturbance and improve readability, we automatically disable some features once closed captioning is enabled.
If a user clicks “CC” then we disable in-player ads and hypervideo, leaving them to read the captions more clearly.
How do I get to the text transcript?
Within the player a user can click the accessibility icon (a ‘stick man’) and choose “Text transcript” which will appear if available.
This will open a page where the URL can be used to show the transcript in future, or embed (as an IFRAME for example) in your own site.
