We’ve spent months working on the most recent version of Buto partly because we wanted to make sure we got a big feature right: the API.

An API (or application programming interface) is a way of controlling one software system from another. The Buto Video API lets you build a professional media-grade video platform into your own projects by controlling Buto remotely.

Whether that’s a website, an iPhone application or online game – the Buto API lets you upload, tag, embed and playlist your video content.

We’ve included a helper library in the form of a PHP ‘wrapper’ that you can include in your scripts to simplify common Buto functions. For example, embedding a video with a single command.

It’s early days, and we plan to extend the API out with more functions over time. But for now it’s a great way to begin customising your site or app with advanced video functions.
